North Portland is the city's most dynamic emerging neighborhood -- a place where longtime residents, artists, young families, and small business owners are building something special. St. Johns, anchored by its iconic cathedral-style bridge, feels like a small town inside the city with its own downtown strip of shops, restaurants, and a vintage movie theater. Kenton, with its famous Paul Bunyan statue, has a growing food scene and a tight-knit community feel.
What draws many visitors to North Portland is the sense of discovery. This isn't a neighborhood that's been covered in every travel magazine (yet). The restaurants are ambitious but unpretentious, the shops are one-of-a-kind, and the pace is a little slower than the east side. Cathedral Park, tucked beneath the soaring arches of the St. Johns Bridge, is one of Portland's most beautiful and underrated spots.
Our North Portland rentals are some of our most affordable, making this a great option for budget-conscious travelers who still want a stylish, well-located home base. You're just 15 minutes from downtown and well-connected by bus and bike routes.
North Portland highlights include Cathedral Park (beneath the stunning St. Johns Bridge), the St. Johns neighborhood shops and restaurants, Kenton's bars and food scene, the University of Portland campus, and Pier Park. It's also close to Sauvie Island for seasonal farm visits and beaches.
North Portland is about 15-20 minutes from downtown Portland by car. The Yellow MAX line serves the Kenton area, and frequent bus service connects St. Johns and other N Portland neighborhoods to the rest of the city.
The neighborhoods where our rentals are located -- St. Johns, Kenton, Arbor Lodge, and the University Park area -- are established residential communities with active neighborhood associations, local businesses, and families. As with any city, we provide neighborhood-specific guidance at check-in.
