Portland's most eclectic, walkable neighborhoods — Hawthorne, Division, Belmont, and Clinton — with independent shops, food carts, and vibrant dining.
Portland, Oregon, United States
Welcome to the heart of Portland's culinary and cultural scene, commonly known as “Foodie Row.” Nestled in the vibrant Hawthorne/Buckman District, you'll find yourself within walking distance of a wide variety of top-notch local flavors—no chain restaurants here! This lively area is home to Powell's Books, Blue Star Donuts, music venues, and much more. Indulge in vegan poutine fries and grilled PB&Js at the Cartopia food cart pod, savor the wings around the corner at Fire on the Mountain, share a pie at Apizza Scholls (consistently voted Portland’s favorite pizza), or opt for an elegant evening at Castagna—all within a 1.5-mile stretch. But Portland isn’t just for foodies. The Hawthorne area boasts a vibrant indie spirit with numerous made-in-Oregon shops and boutiques to explore. Immerse yourself in this hipster haven by catching a movie at the Bagdad Theater and Pub, a revamped 1920s theater turned view-and-brew venue serving local McMenamins food and microbrews. For those who prefer outdoor activities, Mt. Tabor, a 196-acre city park atop a dormant volcano vent, offers miles of hiking trails and incredible panoramic views of the city. Whether you’re bar hopping through the neighborhoods or seeking natural beauty, this area has something for everyone. If you want to experience the true Portland vibe, this is the place to stay. Enjoy the perfect blend of culinary delights, eclectic shops, and scenic parks that make the Hawthorne/Buckman District a must-visit destination.

Overall a decent stay for my work trip. Easy check-in and a convenient location. A few things fell short of expectations.... the apartment could use a deep clean, and the space had a lingering pet odor that was tough with my allergies. It's an older home, so some noise from the entryway is to be expected. The listing also mentions a sofa that wasn't there, so worth updating the description. I shared this feedback with the host directly, and I think a few improvements would make this a great stay for future guests.

Lovely historic studio. Walking distance to restaurants and 15 minute drive to anywhere in Portland. Will be back.

Affordable, place to sleep for 5 nights, clean, but needs some renovations Location was good, as described. Appliances were new. Decor was tasteful and nice. Managers were promptly responsive to texts. Unit was in an older building that had been freshened up but not completely updated. Venetian blinds were old, bent, and dirty. Light fixtures in bathroom and kitchen had dead bugs in them, caulking around tub was discolored, flooring in kitchen and bathroom needed to be stripped and repolished/sealed. The extra layer of registration, extra deposit to set up the ‘portal’, was annoying, especially when my access to the portal (which was required to get the lockbox code to access the unit key) was turned off at least 5 hours before checkout time. This caused 25 minutes of frantic texting back and forth with manager who didn’t know the lockbox code so that we could leave the unit locked when we checked out.

The place was very clean, organized, and nice style. The A/C was very effective. The were several fun and affordable restaurants, cages, bakeries, lounges, comedy club, and bars within walking distance. Jordan was very patient with me, and quick to respond.
