Portland's most eclectic, walkable neighborhoods — Hawthorne, Division, Belmont, and Clinton — with independent shops, food carts, and vibrant dining.
Portland, Oregon, United States
Commonly known as “Foodie Row,” the Hawthorne/Buckman District puts you within walking distance of a wide variety of top-notch local flavors—no chain restaurants here! Make new friends over vegan poutine fries and grilled PB&Js at the Cartopia food cart pod, share a pie at Apizza Scholls (consistently voted Portland’s favorite pizza), or enjoy a fancy night out at Castagna, all within a 1.5-mile stretch. But Portland isn't just for foodies. The vibrant indie spirit thrives in Hawthorne, with plenty of made-in-Oregon shops and boutiques to explore in this hipster haven. Catch a movie at the Bagdad Theater and Pub, a revamped 1920s theater turned view-and-brew venue serving local McMenamins food and microbrews. If bar hopping through neighborhoods isn’t your idea of recreation, head up to Mt. Tabor, a 196-acre city park on top of a dormant volcano vent. Here, you’ll find miles of hiking trails and incredible panoramic views of the city. Enjoy the perfect blend of urban excitement and natural beauty in the Hawthorne/Buckman District!

Not worth the price at all. Pretty barebones compared to similarly priced Airbnb’s. David seems to be an AI chat bot. Advertises two beds but the pull out is covered in stains and pet hair. Was told in multiple messages pre check in that extra linens would be available for the pull out bed but none were left. I messaged David twice about it and while he responded quickly the linens never came and we ended up trying to piece something together with the towels, made for a horrible night of sleep. Location is excellent for exploring southeast Portland. If you only need one bed this place will work for you. Bring noise canceling headphones or earplugs to sleep in, the floors in the building are so old that footsteps from guests in other units will wake up even a heavy sleeper. In my opinion this building is a collection of Airbnb’s that is likely managed by a company, my messages with the host were automated and are likely AI generated.

Perfect spot of a fun weekend with lots to walk to and right by easy public transportation. Would definitely stay here again

It would be easy to stay here for a longer time! The neighborhood is very walkable with many restaurants, coffee shops, and parks nearby, and the apt itself is quiet and spacious, with plenty of storage, seating, and a very comfortable bed. The only drawback was that there wasn't a deadbolt or other safety mechanism on the door - as a woman traveling alone, this would have helped me feel more secure. This is easily fixable, though!

What a great place to stay! I loved the old building and how it was decorated. Very clean, very comfortable, and everything worked well. David was super responsive and helpful. I would absolutely stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
