We spent a weekend at this lovely house- the front porch was perfect for sipping coffee and saying hello to all the dogs walking by. The house was very clean, if a little bare, and there were lots of clean towels for us to use. The beds were very high, which was manageable, but may be difficult for smaller children or shorter adults. There are lots of restaurants, cafes, and even ice cream right around the corner, which our 6yo loved. Street parking would have been difficult, and the driveway was steep, but our rental minivan did just fine. There is some weekend nightlife, not too loud, just part of being in a popular neighborhood.

I’ll start off with the pros for James’ place: -The neighborhood and location are great -Having your own private driveway was nice touch -The wraparound porch was a nice place to relax -The house itself looks nice and charming -The price was reasonable for the space and location The cons: -The beds were AWFUL. The master bedroom had plenty of space, but they decided only to put a very firm queen bed. Way too high stacked onto a box spring and extremely squeaky and slippery metal spring bed frame that would slide when you tried to get on it. Maybe the sliding could have been avoided if they added an appropriate size rug? But instead there was only a 3x5 rug on the one side. Also only having one nightstand was inconvenient. -Although the house was “clean”, there were scratches on every wall and corner that made it feel rundown -no full length mirror -no working outlet in the bathroom -cheap deteriorating furniture -no art -no charm inside -just an obvious Airbnb slapped together :/

The house is located in a wonderful neighborhood (Laurelhurst) filled with restaurants, coffee shops and a Whole Foods which is two blocks away. Great space that also has two work areas.

Great location, peaceful outdoor space, friendly neighbor, parking key in this area

Location was great, easy and quick check in and we appreciated the AC during some days in the 90s!
Victoria
Nice quiet house in a great neighborhood with all amenities. Large front porch (with shade) to sip a beverage and observe the outside world. We really appreciated the easy checkout ... no putting trash out or stripping beds. We would stay here again.

Portland, Oregon, United States
Commonly known as "Foodie Row," the Hawthorne/Buckman District places you within walking distance of a diverse array of top-notch local flavors—no chain restaurants here! Make new friends over vegan poutine fries and grilled PB&Js at the Cartopia food cart pod, share a pie at Apizza Scholls (consistently voted Portland’s favorite pizza), or opt for a fancy night out at Castagna—all within a 1.5-mile stretch. Portland isn’t just for foodies. Hawthorne’s vibrant indie spirit is alive with an abundance of made-in-Oregon shops and boutiques to explore, making it a true hipster haven. Catch a movie at Bagdad Theater and Pub, a revamped 1920s theater turned view-and-brew venue serving local McMenamins food and microbrews. If bar hopping through neighborhoods isn’t your idea of fun, head up to Mt. Tabor, a 196-acre city park atop a dormant volcano vent. Here, you’ll find miles of hiking trails and incredible panoramic views of the city, perfect for a day of outdoor adventure.
