We had a great stay. AJ is a responsive and proactive host and the place was very comfortable. It is on a busy street and getting in is a little tricky when there’s traffic but the place itself is nice, the beds are very comfy and the neighborhood is great. Hawthorne is such a nice spot so I would definitely recommend staying here if you like to be close to shops and restaurants.

We were specifically looking for a smoke-friendly place. This was listed as smoking ok 10 feet from house. A few days before our trip, I got a link to all the house rules. Absolutely no smoking on the premises. We were ok’d for early check in until 2 hours prior to check in. At least he refunded $49 early check in fee that I was unaware of. Found out after check in that we were not allowed to use the toilet or bathroom sink for the night due to fresh caulk. Found out there was no hot water. We were not sure if that would be fixed same day. Fortunately it was. One bedroom had a rug that was a total tripping hazard. The cool clawfoot tub had loose handles, low flow and no plug to take a bath. AJ offered to help by compensating us for our trouble. He did not say how we would be compensated. After our trip, I asked for the first day to be comped to us. He responded with a 20% offer. I returned with 50%. He said AirBnb only allows to 30%. I only get 1000 words for review.

We truly enjoyed our stay! The house was in a great location for our wants as it was walkable to coffee shops, restaurants, grocery, thrifting and other shopping. The home itself was spotless and charming, with a very comfortable couch for watching movies after a full day. The beds were cozy too. The host was qujck to respond to my request for extra blankets. My friends and I would totally stay again!
