The place was as described in the listing. There was parking available in the same street and the host was great about communicating with us and we would absolutely book this place again.

Daniel was a welcoming host! He was quick to respond to all inquiries and was ready with suggestions on Portland sites. We will definitely recommend his place to others!

This is a first floor apartment in an old house. The floors and doors within the apartment and more importantly in the apartment above squeak badly. We were awoken at 2:30 AM the first night by the upstairs neighbors doing nothing but walking around and again at 5:30 AM the next night. And if you are someone who wakes up before your partner, there is little chance of tiptoeing around and not waking them up. Kitchen counters were cracked. Entry to the apartment took over 30 minutes and host initially refused to get on a call. It turns out the locks were not set properly. Washing machine was broken and all evidence suggests that it has been for a long time. Host waited seven hours to respond to one question and then promised to get back to me and did not. Wifi signal was slow and TV continuously was buffering. On the positive side, the location was convenient to a vibrant part of Portland, the mattress was comfortable and the apartment had sufficient space and seating.

Had a great stay, Daniel really thinks of everything. Communication was great, the place was exactly what we were looking for. Great location off Hawthorne and also very quiet at the same time.

This is a great neighborhood and place to stay within walking distance to amenities and restaurants. It's a sensible layout with warm minimalist design. so you feel comfortable but not overwhelmed by stuff. The host is incredibly responsive - the best I've encountered - and willing to answer questions simply and honestly. Good value worth the stay. Two notes: 1. the description lists a private entrance, but it's a shared vestibule. That said, this unit has a back door so you can go out easily to walk a dog even if you can't use it for keyed entry. 2. The unit is in a renovated house so it's not super soundproof. The host does have packaged ear plugs in the bathroom in case you are a light sleeper.

Eclectic vintage shops, independent bookstores, and walkable dining along two of Portland's most iconic streets. Mt. Tabor Park, an extinct volcanic cinder cone with panoramic city views, is a short walk east.

Portland, Oregon, United States
Commonly known as “Foodie Row,” the Hawthorne/Buckman District puts you within walking distance of a wide variety of top-notch local flavors, with no chain restaurants in sight! Make new friends over vegan poutine fries and grilled PB&Js at the Cartopia food cart pod, get messy with wings right around the corner at Fire on the Mountain, share a pie at Apizza Scholls (consistently voted Portland’s favorite pizza), or opt for a fancy night out at Castagna—all within a 1.5-mile stretch. Portland isn't just for foodies; the vibrant indie spirit of Hawthorne is alive with plenty of made-in-Oregon shops and boutiques to explore. Catch a movie at the Bagdad Theater and Pub, a revamped 1920s theater turned view-and-brew venue serving local McMenamins food and microbrews. If bar hopping through neighborhoods isn’t your idea of recreation, head up to Mt. Tabor, a 196-acre city park atop a dormant volcano vent, where you’ll find miles of hiking trails and incredible panoramic views of the city.
