We really enjoyed our stay. The house was spacious and comfortable for our family of eight, with great amenities, coffee, and a fantastic location near Hawthorne and the coffee shops and restaurants on Belmont. We especially enjoyed game nights together. We also appreciated being offered an early check-in even though we hadn’t requested one. A few communication issues kept it from being an excellent stay. There wasn’t enough toilet paper, and despite reaching out two days in a row and being told they would look into it, we never received follow-up and had to buy our own. We were also surprised to find a man in the backyard without advance notice. My cousin had to ask him directly why he was there. We contacted the property and were again told they would look into it but never heard back. Work then began quite early in the backyard on our final morning. For a stay of around $4,000, better communication and attention to these basics would have been appreciated.

Great family home in walkable area We chose this property for its proximity to Laurelhurst Park because we were in town for a wedding. But we also made several trips downtown, which is only 10 minutes away by car. We shared the house with family and it provided plenty of room for us all to hang out as well as retreat to our own rooms for privacy. There is a narrow driveway adjacent to the house which made parking easy. There are plenty of restaurants and a Fred Meyer within walking distance. The host was super responsive and allowed us to check in early -- which was extremely helpful.

Eclectic vintage shops, independent bookstores, and walkable dining along two of Portland's most iconic streets. Mt. Tabor Park, an extinct volcanic cinder cone with panoramic city views, is a short walk east.

Welcome to Portland’s Eastside—specifically the vibrant Hawthorne/Buckman District, often dubbed “Foodie Row.” From this home base, you’re within walking distance of Portland’s best eats, all packed into a lively 1.5-mile stretch. No chain restaurants here—just local gems. Grab vegan poutine or a grilled PB&J at Cartopia food carts, indulge in a wood-fired pie at Apizza Scholls, or treat yourself to a fine dining experience at Castagna. Beyond the food scene, the neighborhood pulses with indie energy. Explore locally owned boutiques, made-in-Oregon shops, and vintage stores that line Hawthorne Blvd. Catch a movie at the historic Bagdad Theater and Pub—a 1920s icon turned brew-and-view venue serving McMenamins fare and microbrews. Prefer nature to nightlife? Mt. Tabor Park—a dormant volcano turned city park—is just up the hill with miles of trails and sweeping views of the skyline. Whether you’re here to eat, explore, or unwind, this area offers a little bit of everything Portland does best.
