Review Highlights

Charming, walkable apartment steps from excellent restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. Clean, comfortable space with responsive, attentive hosting—perfect for exploring the vibrant neighborhood.

Loved my stay at Jeff's place! It's a great location that provides a brief, pleasant walk to great restaurants and shops, but it's still quiet and peaceful at night. Check-in and check-out were both a breeze, the place was clean and tidy, and Jeff was proactive about reaching out to make sure my stay was going well.

the couches felt very regal and the view of the graveyard forest from the bedroom window was lovely

This place was great! The location was perfect, everything was clean, the bed was comfy, and the apartment was cozy! There we’re just a few things that you should be aware of: - The building is a 4 unit apartment. The walls are incredibly thin, (and I’ve lived in plenty apartment complexes before) and the front doors are pretty flimsy and only have one door knob lock on them. Be prepared to hear everything that happens in the building, and for your front door to shake when people enter and exit. - The WiFi is shared, so it is very slow. We couldn’t stream anything without it pausing. I reached out about it while we were there, and they were responsive but didn’t really have a solution. - Since the shower is a clawfoot tub (that looks very cool) it is difficult to get in and out of. We are able bodied so it was fine, but if you have mobility issues you might want to take that into consideration. Overall, I would stay here again. Just take these things into consideration before booking

This place is very close to great Thai food, bars, and coffee shops. Jeff is a very friendly and communicative host. I would definitely stay here again.

Neighborhood highlights

Commonly known as “Foodie Row,” the Hawthorne/Buckman District places you within walking distance of a wide variety of top-notch local flavors—no chain restaurants here! Enjoy vegan poutine fries and grilled PB&Js at the Cartopia food cart pod, share a pie at Apizza Scholls (consistently voted Portland’s favorite pizza), or opt for an elegant night out at Castagna—all within a 1.5-mile stretch. But Portland isn’t just for foodies. The vibrant indie spirit of Hawthorne is alive with a multitude of made-in-Oregon shops and boutiques, making it a true hipster haven. Catch a movie at Bagdad Theater and Pub, a revamped 1920s theater turned view-and-brew venue serving local McMenamins food and microbrews. If bar hopping through neighborhoods isn’t your idea of recreation, head up to Mt. Tabor. This 196-acre city park, located atop a dormant volcano vent, offers miles of hiking trails and incredible panoramic views of the city, providing a perfect escape into nature right within the city limits. Whether you're a foodie, a nature enthusiast, or someone who loves exploring unique shops, the Hawthorne/Buckman District has something special for everyone.
