Daniel was a great and responsive host. The neighborhood is beautiful and location of this Airbnb is fabulous! Hawthorne is a fun walking street with lots of shops and cafes and restaurants, and it's easy to walk to Division which is really vibrant and has everything you need. I stayed for over a week and was mostly out and about. I had breakfasts at home which worked great, and was out for other meals. Though there is a full kitchen, there is really no counter space and I think it would be challenging to cook a big meal that required lots of prep and more than a pan or two, but who wants to cook on vacation!! :) The bus is two blocks away and I was able to bus or walk almost anywhere in the city (I even walked from there over the Hawthorne Bridge to the Westside!) There is AC in the main room but not in the bedroom, so for really hot days that's not ideal, but I mostly just kept the windows open when it cooled down and it worked out just fine.

I guess I didn’t realize that the apartment was 3 stories high. I had recently had a knee replacement and my husband Uses bathroom frequently . It was difficult to get to the third floor for the bathroom. This was our problem, not the problem of the apartment. We were just not the correct demographics for 3 stories of stairs. Otherwise great location and perfect for younger folks.

Great place in a great location, we liked being right next to good Portland coffee shops and restaurants as well as a grocery store. Would stay here again!

Eclectic vintage shops, independent bookstores, and walkable dining along two of Portland's most iconic streets. Mt. Tabor Park, an extinct volcanic cinder cone with panoramic city views, is a short walk east.

Portland, Oregon, United States
Commonly known as “Foodie Row,” the Hawthorne/Buckman District puts you within walking distance of a wide variety of top-notch local flavors, with no chain restaurants in sight! Make new friends over vegan poutine fries and grilled PB&Js at the Cartopia food cart pod, get messy with wings right around the corner at Fire on the Mountain, share a pie at Apizza Scholls (consistently voted Portland’s favorite pizza), or opt for a fancy night out at Castagna—all within a 1.5-mile stretch. Portland isn't just for foodies; the vibrant indie spirit of Hawthorne is alive with plenty of made-in-Oregon shops and boutiques to explore. Catch a movie at the Bagdad Theater and Pub, a revamped 1920s theater turned view-and-brew venue serving local McMenamins food and microbrews. If bar hopping through neighborhoods isn’t your idea of recreation, head up to Mt. Tabor, a 196-acre city park atop a dormant volcano vent, where you’ll find miles of hiking trails and incredible panoramic views of the city.
