| If something goes wrong | Messages through Airbnb, plus AirCover, which isn't insurance: rebooking or a refund if the host cancels or a serious problem can't be resolved | Our Portland team, directly: text [(971) 417-1944](sms:+19714171944) or email [hello@stayportland.com](mailto:hello@stayportland.com) |
| Best for | AirCover protection | The same home, without Airbnb's fee in the price |

**Why booking here can cost less.** Airbnb charges hosts on management software, like us, one fee, built into the nightly price there, not here. Find it cheaper for the same dates? We'll beat it by 5% ([terms](https://www.stayportland.com/price-guarantee)). [Full comparison: direct vs. Airbnb vs. Vrbo](https://www.stayportland.com/compare/book-direct-vs-airbnb-vs-vrbo).

## Other Airbnb alternatives, and when each wins

| Booking.com | No booking fee for guests, Booking.com says | The property sets cleaning fees and taxes |
| A hotel | One or two people staying one night | Parking at three downtown-area hotels runs $43 to $67 a night |
| The host's own site | Dealing with the host directly | Check for a local phone number and recent reviews |

Yes. Stay Portland, a locally owned company, hosts 273 Portland homes, including NW 23rd, Hawthorne-Belmont and Alberta, and nearly all are also listed on Airbnb. Pick dates on stayportland.com to see which are free; the quote shows the full total, with cleaning and taxes, before you pay.

### Are these the same homes I'd find on Airbnb?

Yes. Nearly every home Stay Portland hosts also took bookings on Airbnb in the past year. On Airbnb, a listing may show a host's first name rather than Stay Portland.

### Is it cheaper to book direct than on Airbnb?

It can be. Airbnb's fee for hosts on management software is built into the nightly price there; booked direct, it isn't. If you find the same home cheaper anywhere for the same dates, Stay Portland will beat it by 5%. Terms: [stayportland.com/price-guarantee](https://www.stayportland.com/price-guarantee).
